The Sultan and the Saint Movie Screening
Friday, October 1 at 7 p.m.
  • Bring your lawn chair or blanket to our playground and watch this powerful film about St. Francis.

Blessing of the Animals
Saturday, October 2  from 10-11:30 a.m. on the playground
  • To celebrate Saint Francis of Assisi – the Patron Saint of ecologists – besides blessing your four-legged companions and other pets, we will focus this year on the moral call to protect the diversity of God’s creatures.  Children are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animal, a drawing of an animal facing extinction, or dress up as one (a few distinctive features prepared in a simple way by a child would suffice).
  • There will also be music, arts and crafts for the children, a presentation on composting, and more!
  • You will also have an opportunity to learn about and sign the Healthy Planet, Healthy People petition.
  • If you are unable to attend, children may bring their favorite stuffed animal, a drawing of an animal facing extinction, or dressed up as one to all of the Masses on Saturday, October 2 & Sunday, October 3, either in-person or live-streamed.

Laudato Si' Action Platform: A Seven Year Journey to Save the World: The Immaculate Conception Parish and Immaculata School Joining Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ Action Platform
Tuesday, October 5

7-7:45 p.m. in the main sanctuary of the Immaculate Conception Church.
  • Join us for the 45-minute kick-off event.  It is a huge first step on a journey to ecological sustainability and care for God’s creation.  We’ll be among the first parishes and schools in the world to respond to the challenge of Pope Francis by signing onto his Laudato Si’ Action Platform.
  • Our Pastor Fr. Jacek and Principal of our school Dr. Corcoran will ceremonially make a formal commitment in the name of our parish and school.  We especially look forward to the children and youth joining us at this event.  All the participants will receive an Earth shaped cookie. There will be other fun surprises.

Multicultural Festival- Celebrating Diversity in our Parish & School and Supporting Afghani Refugees
Saturday, October 9 from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM on the playground
  • Delicious tacos will be on sale and proceeds will  support the local Afghani resettlement program.
  • It has been a tradition for us at Immaculate Conception that, every October, we give God thanks for the rich diversity of gifts and talents found amongst all members of our Franciscan parish and school. If you are a member of our Immaculata School family, please consider a creative way you – as an individual or family - can share particular gift or talent, e.g. a tradition, ethnic dance, a song etc.
  • Sign up by October 3 if you would like to participate in the Showcase at the IC Multicultural Festival on or contact Katushka Olave.
  • We encourage everyone to join us at any Mass this weekend to wear native dress of their country of origin, a region within the United States, or any ethnic or racial background.
