"Immaculata has a wonderfully diverse background that includes many cultures. I personally come from an African American, Caucasian, Jewish, and Christian background. Immaculata has helped me express these backgrounds every day by teaching me, through different celebrations, that all cultures deserve to be recognized and celebrated."
— Rachel Broun, alumni
A Community of Faith
As the parish school of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, we strive to live the teachings of Jesus in our relationships within the school and the community. Students engage in daily prayer in their individual classrooms and actively participate in school-wide Masses and prayer services.
At every grade level, the faculty strives to make connections between religion and all subjects. In addition, religious instruction is an essential and required part of the curriculum. Students in Pre-K through Grade 4 participate in "Atrium," or Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, which is a scripture-based Montessori approach to religious education. Students in Grades 6-8 attend a traditional religion class.
Community service is an integral part of school life at Immaculata, as it connects school activities and curriculum to Catholic Social Teachings. Our students organize food, book, and clothing drives, visit retirement communities and homeless shelters, read to shelter animals, keep our community clean, write letters to seminarians and military, cultivate a community garden, and many more activities that foster a life of service.
On Feast days, students perform liturgical dramas to bring life to the stories of the celebrated Saints. Our second grade Catholic students prepare for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion, culminating in the annual May Crowning, and students in Grades 3-8 participate in confession two times a year. During Holy Week, the school and parish come together to watch the Middle School production of the Passion play "Way of the Cross."
