"[Immaculata] is a wonderful school community, and we can't imagine our children anywhere else. We love our school, and our children love going to school there."
— Pam Turner, parent
New Families FAQ
Welcome! We are so excited to have you join the Immaculata community. Please take a few moments to review the helpful information below.
New Families Listserv
If you have questions or want to connect with other families before the first day of school, we've set up two Google Groups: one for PreK-Grade 5 and one for Middle School. You may receive an email invitation to join, or you can request to join by clicking the links or contacting Barbra Murray, Director of Admissions. Don't forget to also follow us on Facebook and Twitter!
Summer Playdates & Camps
Attending a summer playdate allows your children to meet classmates and for you to talk to new and current Immaculata parents. Your child can also meet new Immaculata friends by attending one of our summer camps.
Students in Kindergarten-Grade 8 wear uniforms. PE uniforms can be purchased at Land’s End and should be worn all day when PE is scheduled, with dress uniforms worn at all other times.* You can purchase dress uniforms from either Land’s End or FlynnO’Hara online or visit the Land’s End section at Sears at Southpoint Mall (for non-embroidered items only or to check for fit) or the FlynnO’Hara retail store in Brier Creek at 8613 Glenwood Ave, Suite 109. As well, we have a uniform resale during school hours and over the summer (Mondays-Thursdays, 9:00am-1:00pm), offering gently used uniforms for a suggested donation of $5/piece. For more details, see our Uniform Policy.
*On the third Wednesday of each month, we have a Spiritwear day on which students may wear a Spiritwear shirt with appropriate bottoms and footwear of their choosing. Students may also dress out of uniform in appropriate attire on their birthdays (or half-birthdays for those with summer birthdays).
A full listing of requested school supplies is available on our Parent A-Z page. There, you will also find many other helpful links, such as suggested summer reading, the school handbook, and more.
Lunch and Snacks
Immaculata offers a catered lunch program or students may bring their own lunches from home. Students should also bring a healthy morning snack such as fruit, cheese, or yogurt.
Car line procedures make morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up run smoothly and safely. Please review them carefully as everyone on campus is expected to know and follow the procedures.
Mass and Friday Morning Prayer
As a community of Faith, we attend a weekly Mass on Tuesday mornings (Kindergarten-Grade 8) at Immaculate Conception Church. We also have a weekly Friday Morning Prayer assembly (all grades) in the Emily K Center. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend these gatherings.
We use PlusPortals as our main communication tool, which includes the school calendar, announcements, homework assignments, report cards, email, and more. Each Friday afternoon, a school newsletter is emailed out, containing all the information families need to know for the week, such as upcoming events, links to sign up for clubs, camps, volunteer opportunities, etc., photos from the week, and other general news. Our Principal follows up on Sunday evenings with a phone message and email with reminders and the schedule for the upcoming week. For emergencies such as weather-related school closures, we send a simultaneous text/email/phone message and post the information on PlusPortals as well as the homepage of our website.
There are many volunteer opportunities to give your time and talent to. You may also contribute your treasure toward the school fundraisers, annual fund, or simply linking your Harris Teeter VIC card or collecting Box Tops.
