Alumni Impressions
Recently Immaculata received an inquiry from a student who attended Immaculata from 1950 - 1957. His family relocated out of state at the end of his sixth grade year. Read on to share in his memories and impressions of Immaculata:
"I was captain of the school safety patrol in 1956 and 1957 ........ memories of Immaculata: the great school, the discipline, playing in the school courtyard, St. Mary Innocent was principal in 1957 I believe, Pastor Father Charles J. Oconnor, and him calling me "one of the best altar boys in the school" ....... when the old Immaculata church was torn down in 1956 and the new one was built ....... I made my confirmation there in May 1957 ...... every day in May a student had to make a crown of flowers/roses for the blessed mary statue ......... the small classes, the camaderie of the school and the tough love discipline that was instilled in every student ........" Mike Hrabovsky
A 2005 graduate sent this response to Mr. Hrabovsky's memories:
"his memories from 50 years ago are very similar to most memories that we've all had today. Doesn't look like things have changed much and I mean that in a good way. It's kind of comforting to know that the school has always and will always have those qualities that he mentioned... regardless of people that come and go!"
September 27, 2009 - Laurie Preddy (Bradsher) -1970-1974
"choir, playing the organ for morning assembly; meeting my best friend; Sr. Mary Elizabeth and Sr. Joanne; burying a time capsule."
January 14, 2010 - Sherri Johnson - 1967-1973
"There were nuns still teaching and facilitating at the school when I was there. We were not allowed to wear pants so the winters could be quite cold. We played kick ball everyday. Mrs. Falcone was my favorite teacher ..."
